December has arrived and we’re ready for festivities! Every year during this period, we gather with our family members to decorate the house with beautiful decorations and a marvelous Christmas tree!

According to the Chinese calendar, the year 2023 will be governed by the Water Rabbit. Therefore, I thought it will be most appropriate to use decorations of the water element, especially in accents on the blue color, from the lightest grey to the deepest black, including all the shades of blue and greens.

Like many success stories we’ve heard before, FLEXFORM started as a family business in the sixties, in the Brianza manufacturing district, in the Northern part of Italy.

This region has a rich history of being a concentration of great artisan manufacturers of padded furniture since the early 1900s. Moreover, being very close to Milano city, it had access to the best creatives from the industry, collaborating with many architects, designers, and artists, and being able to create industrial designs using innovative materials way ahead of the rest of the world.

It all started in 1959 when the Galimberti brothers opened an artisan workshop, called “Flexform di Galimberti”, which specialized in the production of upholstered sofas and armchairs. In the following years, their furniture pieces were present inside the most prestigious villas and historical palaces from Milano to Lake Como, becoming a well‐known name in the industry.

All products included in the catalogue of this company have a strong DNA, beholding three main characteristics I’ve described above: exquisite design, erotic appeal, and extravagant shapes. It is a well-curated collection of lighting, furniture and accessories that expands the meaning of eclectic and sophisticated design for everyday interiors, defined by strong personality, creativity, and beauty.

Quando diciamo “cultura del vetro” ci viene in mente FIAM ITALIA, quando parliamo di “cultura della plastica” ci viene in mente KARTELL, quando ricordiamo la “cultura dei divani” pensiamo a B&B ITALIA, ma quando diciamo la “cultura del dormire” ci viene in mente FLOU.

L’azienda italiana FLOU che ha introdotto la vera “cultura del dormire” è stata fondata da Rosario Messina (e alcuni soci) nel 1978 a Meda (Brianza), che poi lui acquisirà interamente, con l’obiettivo di produrre letti di elevata qualità, unita al comfort e design inedito.

1)      Prima di tutto, è stata la prima azienda ad abbracciare il materiale innovativo quale PLASTICA, unendo alla tecnologia, qualità e ricerca del design, per creare complementi d’arredo unici e di un forte DNA estetico e funzionale.

2)      La talentuosa ANNA CASTELLI FERRIERE, fra le prime donne ad avere svolto la professione di architetto in Italia, designer di fama internazionale. Nel 1949, con suo marito, l'ing. Giulio Castelli, fonda Kartell della quale assume la direzione artistica, che deterrà fino al 1987. Assieme ad Ignazio Gardella ha progettando l’edificio di Noviglio, alle porte di Milano, dove dal 1967 ad oggi si trova la sede Kartell.
