During the cleaning process, KEEP ONLY THE BEST! That including clothes, shoes, furniture, and even tableware. How many times we see that people hold one set of “daily dishes” for family everyday use (often chopped, unpaired and old), another set “for guests,” and even a third one in fine porcelain for “extra special occasions”? That kind of attachment outspokenly says that such people are not ready to live right here right now, and enjoy the best every day, instead of holding and expecting some better times to come?!
Now that we have cleaned up everywhere, what is the next step? Sit down and analyze, make an overall situation of your life, and write down WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE / IMPROVE. As I mentioned in the first article “FENG SHUI – THE BASICS TO KNOW,” the oriental system of wealth is based on achieving success in all the eight fields of life: health, wealth, marriage & relationships, worthy progeny, reputation, career & life journey, knowledge & self-development and support of helpful/powerful friends. Only the complementary support of each other can guarantee a harmonious, long-term, and happy life. However, it is not necessary to start with all the segments at once; decide what is most important, start with it, and then step-by-step implement changes in other fields.
HOW TO USE THE COMPASS
To identify your house's positioning and the eight sectors of life, you will need to use a good compass. Do not look for some sophisticated and complex models (like the ones experts of feng-shui are using); it will perfectly do a simple European compass that will indicate clearly and correctly the directions N - S - E - W.
Take the planimetry of your house/apartment, or if you do not have it, then draw one by measuring all the walls inside the house and make a sketch using the scale. In the center of your home, or in front of a window in one of the rooms, place the compass on a solid surface. Directly on the planimetry indicate the four directions: North, South, East, West. Do it with the maximum of precision as you can – this will help you later divide the eight sectors of the house correctly according to the Bagua Map.
Now that you indicated the cardinal points (N – S – E – W), it is time to find the house's center, according to feng-shui. When the planimetry is a regular geometrical figure (a rectangular, square, oval, trapeze (or if it can be corrected to one of these figures), see drawings below, then the center will be precisely at the intersection of the two diagonals.
If, however, the planimetry is an irregular figure, then the center of the house according to feng-shui will be the intersection point of the central lines taken between several centers in regular geometrical forms, see drawings below:
Once you have identified the house's center, here it comes the moment to draw the Bagua Map. First, draw a circle around the house's planimetry – the center of the house must correspond with the center of the circle. Then, divide the circle into eight sectors that will correspond to cardinal directions: North, South, East, West, North-East, North-West, South-East, and South-West. Another easy way to do that will be to place the Bagua Map sketch on top of the planimetry and sign the directions on top of it. The scope of it is to identify the limits/areas of each sector in the house. For example, the direction North – East and East are near, but we must know precisely where their borders are when deciding to apply an energetical activator because they are governed by two hostile elements one to another – Earth and Wood.
Before starting to intensify energetic fields in your house, find for yourself a symbol that represents you and your family. You could use ancient folk symbols of your nation or your family's emblem if you have such. You could even create a sign of yours, like years ago, did Coco Chanel (with CC logo) or Versace (with Medusa symbol). It must be something resigning with your character, origins, and beliefs. However, if such symbolics is not your case, you can use traditional Chinese feng-shui symbols.

LAY THE LO-SHU SQUARE & THE BAGUA MAP ON THE HOME PLANIMETRY
The Lo-Shu square can be applied to any area, starting from a writing desk to a room, apartment, headquarter, and even an entire town/city. It is not difficult to do it by yourself; respect the correct proportions/scale:
Step 1: We already have the planimetry of the house/apartment (in our case).
Step 2: With a compass, we also identified the directions N – S – E – W and applied on the house planimetry.
Step 3: Lay the Lo-Shu square on top of the planimetry so that number 1 will correspond to the North. If you placed the house's planimetry in a circle divided into eight sectors, then distribute the numbers accordingly to cardinal directions. At the same time, number 5 will be the center of the house.
Consider that if the planimetry has an irregular form, then all the sectors will have different proportions, and some of them may be even absent. In such cases, you can decide to use otherwise the Bagua map: choose only the rooms that have a regular form and work with them.
The application of Lo-Shu square and Bagua map on the planimetry will help to divide the space into sectors accordingly to the school compass:
1 – the sector of Career & Business – direction North, element Water
2 – the sector of Love & Relationships – direction South-West, element Earth
3 – the sector of Health – direction East, element Wood
4 – the sector of Wealth & Prosperity – direction South-East, element Wood
5 – the center of the house – Family, Yin & Yang
6 – the sector of Helpful People – direction North-West, element Metal
7 – the sector of Children & Creativity – direction West, element Metal
8 – the sector of Knowledge & Wisdom – direction North-East, element Wood
9 – the sector of Fame & Reputation – direction South, element Fire
This way, to every side of the world (cardinal direction), corresponds a specific number from 1 to 9 of the Lo-Shu square, responsible for a concrete area of life. With these instruments' help, the Bagua map, and the Lo-Shu square, we can identify where every sector is located and apply necessary corrections.
How to intervene in each of the life sectors, we will see in detail the next blog posts one by one.
Best wishes,
Nadiya
